Andre Malraux zebra crossing consultation
What this consultation is for
Ealing Council is asking people what they think about upgrading the current raised crossing on Bordars Road to a raised zebra crossing. The aim is to make the road safer, particularly for school children at Andre Malraux School, by introducing a clear pedestrian‑priority crossing that is better understood by drivers.
Background
Andre Malraux School is an independent primary school located on Bordars Road in Hanwell. The school is worried about the safety of their children outside the school gates at the start and end of each school day. Bordars Road is used by some drivers as a cut-through from Greenford Avenue, which makes the road busy at the start and end of school day.
What would change
The proposed raised zebra crossing would provide a clear place to cross the road for children and other pedestrians. Drivers would understand that they must stop at the zebra crossing when someone wants to cross the road. This is expected to make the area safer and reduce the risk of collisions.
The council has developed detailed proposals for this improvement, which are shown in the attached plan and document below.
