Give Cumberland Road’s Bikes a Home
From "Tell us where cycle parking is needed"

I’d like to suggest a secure bike hangar on Cumberland Road, and I’d be very happy for one to be installed outside number 17 if the location is suitable.
Cumberland Road has a lot of flats, which means plenty of residents simply don’t have a garage, shed or convenient place to keep a bike. The existing local bike hangar is full pretty much all the time, so there’s clearly no shortage of demand.
We also have lots of families and children on the road who could really benefit from safe, easy-to-access bike storage. At the moment, owning a bike is much less practical if your choices are carrying it upstairs, squeezing it into a hallway, or leaving it outside and hoping for the best.
Another hangar would make cycling a much more realistic option for people on the street, free up space inside people’s homes, and hopefully encourage a few more journeys on two wheels instead of four.
I’d certainly use a space myself, and I suspect I wouldn’t be the only one. If the council needs a willing spot to consider, I am at number 17a and would be honoured to volunteer!
